The young architects at Architectuur Maken have built their own residence and office, known as the Gouverneur, from bricks made from demolition and construction waste. These so-called WasteBasedBricks were recently developed by the start-up Stonecycling company. The recycled bricks not only save materials but also cost less energy. They also look very attractive, in a variety of colours and textures depending on the original materials. With support by the municipality, Architectuur Maken was able to find a location at which to build their dream house. The Gouverneur is proof of how future constructions can be circular.
